Geminid Meteor Shower Intimate Wedding

December 13, 2025 - Rancho de los Arboles Muertos Campground - Alpine, TX

The Story:

This lovely couple and their friends have been camping out together to watch the Geminid Meteor shower for years. This year, they decided they were going to SURPRISE their friends and family with - ta-da - a wedding! I’ve never been part of a surprise wedding before, but I can now say I’m a big fan. The day started like any normal day at a campout - hanging out, grilling, catching up and telling stories. Then suddenly, wedding invitations were passed out and the day turned into a glorious celebration. A few people were surprised and a few had their suspicions. My seasoned wedding photographer friend, who I’d brought on as a second shooter, and I did our best to blend into the festivities until the wedding was announced. They held the ceremony at sunset at the campground, then we proceeded to stay out all night enjoying each other’s company and watching the meteor shower.

The Location:

The campout and ceremony were held at Rancho de los Arboles Muertos Campground in Alpine, Texas. The campground is located around the Study Butte area, just a short 7 minute drive from the town of Terlingua and the entrance to Big Bend National Park. It was the perfect location for a wedding like this. They have large, dog-friendly sites that are perfect for big groups with the option to rent cabins or large canvas tents for more comfortable accommodations. They are surrounded by stunning landscapes and wide open skies that were perfect for stargazing and astrophotography. There was also plenty of privacy to really allow you to focus on your group. Since this is a private campground and the ceremony was held at the campsite, no additional permits were needed to get married here, unlike if you were actually inside Big Bend National Park.

The Feedback:

From the bride via Google review: “I found Amber through her social media, showcasing her passion for astrophotography and breathtaking landscape work. I was searching for a photographer who would be willing to shoot our elopement ceremony under the night sky and capture the magic of the meteor shower we wed beneath. She hadn’t advertised herself as a “wedding photographer,” but her night-sky photos were so stunning that I had to reach out and see if she’d be open to doing something outside her norm. From the very first message, she saw my vision and was completely on board.
Amber didn’t just take photos, she performed alchemy. She turned light into memory, emotion into art, and moments into something eternal. From our first interaction, her energy felt calm, grounding, and magical, like being in the presence of someone who truly understands sacred moments.
During our ceremony, she moved like a quiet spirit, always there yet never intrusive, capturing the laughter, the stillness, the chaos, and the love in ways that feel deeply intentional and powerful. Every image feels enchanted, like a spell cast in the night.
Looking through our gallery feels like stepping back into a sacred circle of love, vows, and stardust. These are not just photographs, they are talismans of memory we will treasure for the rest of our lives.
If you’re searching for a photographer who will travel to magical places and who doesn’t just document your day but honors it, protects it, and transforms it into art, look no further. Amber is the one. Her eye is pure magic. ✨🌙🖤”
